Noisettes with Apache Beat + Free Downloads!

Noisettes with Apache Beat | 8.3.09 | 8pm

A three piece punk group in the post-rock era is charged to be more than the sum of its parts. This task is met by London’s NOISETTES, though it’s no small one. Singer/bassist Shingai Shoniwa has a voice that easily shifts from a technically honed Karen O. to Wendy O. Williams in no seconds flat, Dan Smith has the wrist and fretwork that will satisfy gutter punks and prog-rockers alike, while Jamie Morisson tackling the kits with a nuanced ferocity. And with a firm foundation in the realm of the garage, Noisettes have gotten into the habit of recruiting unpredictable instrumentation, a full string section for the vintage pop ballad, or synths for a dance floor thumper.

Their new single "Never Forget You" is out in the states. Pick it up at the link below along with a free download of "Scratch Your Name" off their previous release.

Joining Noisettes, is Brooklyn's own APACHE BEAT, the post-rock ensemble that is most likely to guide your peyote spirit journey. Their deft riffage, thunderous vocals and syncopated, tom-based percussion carry them outside the parameters of plain indie pop, granting them a musically dense but dance-inducing style that is all their own. In their three year span they have already shared the stage with Deerhunter, Chairlift, We Are Scientists, and School of Seven Bells amongst others.

YACHT is coming to Santa's! With the highly anticipated release of their forthcoming album SEE MYSTERY LIGHTS, we're gearing up to host the equally anticipated album release party here at SANTOS PARTY HOUSE on JULY 28th! [buy tickets]

The buzz term that keeps popping up for the Oregonian tag-team is “lap-pop,” but their music has more to do with actual sunlight than it does the glow of the monitor, and their words are more like transcendental treatises than party anthems. At the core of their tapestry of electro harmonies and layered percussion is the invigorating and refractory soul of old school riot grrl. Signed in 2008 to DFA Records, they are very much a part of that label’s bias towards testing the definition of electro. And as their music expands beyond genre, they have expanded the concept of what a musical collective can be. As expressed in the opening statements of their manifesto, “YACHT is a Band, Belief System, and Business.”

Cubic Zirconia Tomorrow Night

Cubic Zirconia is throwing down hard tomorrow night at Santos in celebration of the release of their new album "Fuck Work," which dropped on June 23. Led by the ever sexy siren Tiombe, the band melds tropical and futurisitc beats with an acid house vibe to make a sound all their own. The New York based band describes their creative process as an "egoless communal approach" and it shows, as their music is all about fun- something that Santa sure knows a shit load about. In addition to Cubic Zirconia, there will be DJ Sets by Dam Funk, DJ Assault, Kool Hersh, Mike 2600 & live sets by Head Automatica, Chico Mann. Oh and did we mention that there is a gonna be a 3 am open bar? Shit is gonna be bezerk! Yes thats right, the word bezerk was just used. So get here at 10 and stay for forever, because lord knows the party never dies here at Santos!
