Letters To Santa

Santa’s Party House, due to several coincidences and what we are sure to be very honest mistakes, has become the forwarding address for all letters to Santa Claus sent through the mail. The amount of mail we received this season was astounding, jamming up our normal intake of demo tapes and mail order catalogues. Here are a few notable correspondences we’ve received. In the interest of preserving our indie credibility, no names have been changed.

-Dear Santa, I would love the princess dynasty doll called Lilac Bianca for crissmas this year. If you dont have any of that one its okay but I already have Red Trina and Sapphire Jeff so dont get me one of those again. Thank you Dana

-Dear Santa, I am Zachary and I am 9. Simon got to listen to the T.I. with the curse words when he was 7. When you give me the Ying Yang twins album please let it be the one with the curses I promise I wont say them to Becky this time. Ive been good. Love Stan Levy

-dear santa, i would like all the wars to end and for all the hungry people to have food for christmas. if you already gave that to someone else please give me all the different kind of transformers. sincerely, desan

-Dear Santa,
I am so humbled by the blessings I have received in my life that it pangs me to ask for anything else. So it is in that spirit of gratitude that I come to you with one request for this Christmas. Please have Claire get pregnant by the end of this season of As The World Turns. More is at stake here than you know.
Please fix my gambling,

If I find out you’re using my pictures to hit on Myspace chicks again I’m filing charges.

-Dear Santa,
I am prepared this year. Filling my fireplace with concrete wasn’t enough. Then I tried filling the rest of the fireplace with feces. It’s still there. I now have two separate defense contractors surveying my roof and a deadly cocktail of weaponized raccoon musk coating every window and door pane of my house. Come and get it, fat man. Remember I am still the 4th ranked knife fighter in Bellflower.

-Mr. Claus,
This notice is to again remind you that you are behind on your utilities payments by the equivalent of several weeks. If this persists any longer we will terminate your services and your accountant indefinitely. We have also noticed that on the checks you have sent, you have refrained from writing in the account number and instead have drawn very detailed pictures of male genitalia. This is technically sexual harassment and punishable by federal law. Please cease this behavior immediately or we will take action.

White Christmas Extravaganza!

Photographs by Danielle Lobosco.

It snowed in New York yesterday and it was a White Christmas at Santos last night thanks to Mr Patrick Duffy, Andrew Buckler, GMHC and many more. The night was speckled with performances and appearances from Lady Bunny, Jasper James, Michele Balan, Angelique Ali, Sequinette and Pixie Harlots. Acroback performed suspended from the ceiling and Deborah fucking Harry sang a few Blondie hits, including The Tide Is High and Dreaming before being joined by a full Choir to sing Christmas songs.

Santos Party House has officially moved locations. We are no longer located at 100 Lafayette Street. Due to our ongoing expansion, we're now located 2 doors down (approximately 8 feet), at 96 Lafayette Street. Fortunately, we have been able to recreate the exact same club, only 8 feet further down the block, simply by shifting the walls and parts of the ceiling to accommodate the new location.

Our patrons will notice a slight shift in the sidewalk, as well as a wider stairway leading down to the lower level. As a result of this move, we now have a larger amount of space on the left side corridor of the club. We were also able to shift the entire front entrance and windows of our building, leaving the upper portion intact. If you look closely, you'll be able to see the distance between the previous location and the new one.

We've made a new logo for our address, to replace the no longer accurate, 100 Lafayette logo. Special thanks to Andrew Strasser.

The New York City Rescue Mission

At 10:30am, Thursday, December 11, 2008, Santos Party House, along with the incredible help and generosity of Jerry Rosenbaum and his wife, Rebecca, donated hundreds of brand new winter coats, vests, and children's books to The New York City Rescue Mission, located next door to Santos Party House, on Lafayette Street, in NYC. The donation was made in the spirit of good holiday cheer, and neighborly community spirit. Bag after bag of beautiful flannel coats were brought in by Santa Santos and his little helpers from the Santos Party House team, including Giulietta, Alan, Mike, Andrew, and Jerry and Rebecca.

The New York City Rescue Mission is America's oldest rescue mission, founded in 1872. Located on the corner of Lafayette and White streets, the mission provides spiritual hope, food, clothing and shelter to people in crisis in New York City. Their model has been replicated by 300 rescue missions throughout the country. Santos is pleased to support their efforts to give loving kindness to the people of the neighborhood and the surrounding city.

Photographs by Danielle Lobosco.

Wednesday night's show was one for the History books!

80's post-punk band, Liquid Liquid, emerged from the abyss and played an ultra rare set to a packed house at Santos. I don't think I've ever seen so many cymbals and percussive devices on a stage before. Everything from old fire alarms to chimes and xylophones to cut out brass and bongos.

This shit hasn't gone down in a longgg time but you would never know by the way these guys played together. And with a crowd like the one at Santos it might be safe to say that it won't be the last we'll see of them. I hope.

WTF Happened Tuesday?!

Photographs by Danielle Lobosco.

High kicks, balloon heads, rapping twins, monster shamans and bandmates beating the crap out of each other. Yeah, it was just another Tuesday at Santos.

Hearts of Darknesses, Bad Brilliance, Grand Buffet and CX Kidtronik kicked off the first WTF Tuesday!? hosted by our ringmaster, Andrew WK, at the Official Girl Talk Afterparty.

But not to worry, you have another chance to see them. They're coming back for a very special evening on November 29th with Marnie Stern and 18th Dye! I won't feel bad for you if miss this one.

Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt Invaded Santos!

Photographs by Danielle Lobosco.

Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt played Santos during CMJ and they brought a GIANT inflatable Santa Arch! I can't think of a better way to enter a dance party then under an enormous lit up Santa with outstretched arms!

It was absolutely impossible to distinguish band members from audience members because the mic got passed around so much. Everyone was dressed up in such crazy gear you would think it was WTF Tuesday. Apparently there was either one person in the group or like 22, I can't remember.

Lissy Trullie + Friends play Santos!

Photographs by Danielle Lobosco.

Remember that song "Kokomo" by the Beach Boys? Of course you do, you were probably born in the 80's. You were also probably too young to go see Tom Cruise in Cocktail but I'd bet good money that you owned the single, if not the soundtrack.

I'm pretty sure Adam Green had both because he sang Kokomo at least 4 times Monday night at Santos after Lissy Trullie's beautiful set. He also sang his mambo rendition of "Happy Birthday " an equal number of times to people in the crowd who swore it was their birthdays.

Rumple Strips opened to a full crowd. They sounded so good that if they were Britney Spears I would have assumed they were miming to a record.

But back to Lissy, who played a brilliant set. Yes, kids, she really is hipper than hip. So hip in fact that there probably isn't even a word for it. She had the crowd in her hands though her carefree and calm demeanor suggested she wasn't even aware of the fact. Gotta love her.

Mark Ronson manned the decks during the after party while Kirsten Dunst shuffled between the upstairs lounge and the dance floor.
