While the contemporary dance punk movement is brimming with creativity, there is definitely something left to be desired in terms of the dark and sinister, a void Jessica 6 is filling up with cosmic vibes. Their synth grooves and distorted disco guitars bring a level of sophistication to their dancefloor oriented beats. Singer Nomi Ruiz has collaborated with Hercules and Love Affair, while her accompaniment Andrew Raposo and Morgan Wiley are known for their work in Automata, which landed them in the booth and onstage with James Murphy and the DFA posse.

Yes Giantess’ sound has a throwback-to-the-future feel in no small part due to early-Michael Jackson era vocals matched up with brazen MGMT-styled melodies and production. The technically advanced keyboard/synth lines are an important part of the mixture as well, resulting in a sound that has something for the casual dance floor warrior and serious music listener alike.

Presenting a novel pastiche of sounds that rule the NYC night is are indie poppers Body Language. Psychotropic samples, dense percussion, and mysterious vocals are tied together by musical passages borrowed disco and house music. The potent mix has earned them opening spots for the likes of Zero 7 and The Juan MacLean.

The vision of percussionist cum psychedelic shoegaze producer Cale Parks has expanded into a trio ensemble, giving the droney, pulsing arrangements a fuller feeling. Of Parks’ latest EP, Treble magazine said, “Between its crevices and folds, To Swift Mars reveals highbrow, avant garde elements, but at its heart, it's a pop record, and a really good one at that.” He has remixed Ra Ra Riot and Drink Up Buttercup, and has shared the stage with Passion Pit, the Harlem Shakes and Ted Leo.
